Neverland Challenge

By: Chad Eldridge, DC

Dr. Chad having some fun at Wooten Park in Tavares.

Are the daily stresses of life consuming your day?  Do you find yourself often anxious, worried about your finances, or just feeling completely overwhelmed by life?  Have you ever wished that you were a kid again, when life was so much easier and fun?  Do you remember that time of your life when you didn’t care what people thought, you wouldn’t hold back any emotions, and you would just wake up every day ready to experience life? I am here to tell you that wish can come true!  Just because you are not a kid anymore does not mean that you can’t experience life in that way.  I was recently in this situation.  It came to the point when these things consumed me and were all that I could think and talk about.  An impromptu bicycle ride helped change that.  I hadn’t been on a bicycle in years and that ride made me feel like a kid again. It made me forget about all of the stresses of life and just have fun.  I challenge you to get in touch with your inner child, America, and ask yourself this question:

I challenge you to at least once a day set everything aside and experience life as a kid.  Explore movement by doing such things you did as a kid, like rolling and crawling on the ground.  Go OUTSIDE and play, ride a bike, go to the park and hang on the monkey bars, or whatever it is that you enjoy doing.  Laugh, cry, scream. Don’t be afraid to explore your emotions.  Sing and dance to your favorite songs without a care in the world or what others may think of you.  Learn a new skill and try new things.  Get in touch with your creative side.  Draw a picture and hang that thing on the refrigerator no matter how ugly it may be.  Strike up a conversation with people around you, instead having your head down in your cell phone praying no one makes eye contact with you. Set aside all inhibitions and explore life. Be a Goonie. (If you have never watched the movie The Goonies, do it.  It will change your life.)  Don’t be held captive by life, break out and PLAY! Side effects of this challenge include: less stress, a feeling of happiness, and a clear mind.  Accept the challenge and prepare to enjoy life.
